Message from Chairman
The 44th YPS National Salon 2026 has been a very special Salon for all of us at the Youth Photographic Society.
We began this journey with Girish Ananthamurthy as the Salon Chairperson. None of us could have imagined then that we would lose Girish so suddenly. His untimely passing left a void that is difficult to fill, both within YPS and among all those who knew and worked with him.
Under these circumstances, I was asked to step in and take over as Chairperson. I thank the Executive Committee for once again placing its trust in me and handing me the reins of the Salon.
We dedicate the 44th edition of the YPS National Salon 2026 to Girish Ananthamurthy, as a mark of our respect and in recognition of his invaluable contribution to YPS. It is particularly meaningful that the Salon he began could be carried forward and completed in his memory.
This edition received an excellent response, with 237 authors submitting 3736 works. We also introduced a fifth section this year, expanding the scope of the Salon and offering photographers another avenue to showcase their work.
Our seven-member jury panel brought their experience and perspective to the judging process and did an excellent job of evaluating a large and diverse body of work. My sincere thanks to each of them for the time and commitment they brought to the Salon.
Taking over a Salon midway came with its own challenges, but I was fortunate to have Venkatesh BS as the Salon Secretary, taking on this responsibility for YPS for the first time. My sincere appreciation also goes to the entire Salon Committee, whose commitment and teamwork ensured that the Salon continued seamlessly despite the circumstances.
It is also heartening to see new people taking on responsibilities. Ganesh Prasad, a first-time reviewer, stepped into the role with enthusiasm and was also taken under Rajaram Sir's wings for media coverage. Ananth Kamath stepped in when needed and took on multiple roles, ranging from reviewing to helping with the creatives. This willingness to step beyond defined responsibilities is what makes a team work.
The continued support of our sponsors, brought in through the efforts of Vikas, forms the backbone of this Salon. Their support enables YPS to maintain the standards and stature that photographers have come to associate with our Salons. We value this association immensely and look forward to their continued support in the years ahead.
For forty-four editions, the YPS National Salon has provided a platform for photographers from across the country to share their work, compete, learn and grow. The continued participation and enthusiasm of the photographic community is what keeps this long tradition alive.
My sincere thanks to every photographer who participated in this edition and placed their trust in YPS. Congratulations to all the award winners and accepted authors.
As we move closer to the end of 44th edition, there is much to be proud of. But this Salon will always carry a deeper significance for us. It carries the memory of the person who began its journey.

Message from the Salon Secretary
I am pleased to present a comprehensive report on the YPS National Salon 2025. This event was the second Salon I have had the privilege of organizing, and it has been a satisfying experience for all involved.
The successful management of bringing in 8 esteemed jury members contributed to the high caliber of our event. The diversity in the jury added a pan-india perspective to the salon's evaluation process.
We received an overwhelming and positive response from participants, underlining the reputation and prestige of the YPS National Salon. The substantial number of submissions demonstrated the trust and enthusiasm of photographers worldwide.
Our support team, led by our dedicated Chairperson, Anitha, worked tirelessly throughout the event. The Chairperson's responsiveness was remarkable, addressing queries almost before they were posted, and her unwavering availability, despite her busy schedule, ensured the event's smooth functioning.
Gopinath, our Webmaster, effectively managed the salon. His meticulous approach ensured that our online presence and registration process ran smoothly. His contribution was vital to the event's seamless digital operation. Gopinath, as always, was available to mend and tweak the backend whenever needed. His technical expertise ensured the smooth functioning of the event's online platform, guaranteeing that participants and judges could navigate the process effortlessly.
The reviewers played a vital role in evaluating the 2409 pictures submitted. Their untiring work ensured that the salon maintained its high standards, adhering to our commitment to quality and impartial evaluation. The Creatives team exhibited exceptional proactivity and efficiency, working tirelessly to create an engaging and memorable experience. Their creative input was instrumental in crafting the visual identity of the salon. Our media and publicity team did an outstanding job in promoting the event. Their efforts generated significant interest among photographers and art enthusiasts, expanding our reach and ensuring that the YPS National Salon 2025 received the attention it deserved.
The jury members were very cooperative, scored the pictures per schedule and made themselves available for jury meetings at short notice. Their discussions and insights enriched the event, fostering a sense of camaraderie and collaboration, not to mention the wealth of knowledge brought to the table, enhancing the judging process. The results are being published ahead of time, further enhancing the credibility and transparency of the YPS National Salon 2025. The timely release of results was a testament to the meticulous planning and execution of the event.
As we look forward to the upcoming physical exhibition, scheduled in May, we anticipate it will be a culmination of the creative talents and hard work put into this event. The physical exhibition promises to be an opportunity for photographers and art enthusiasts to witness the beauty and artistry of photography up close.
In conclusion, the YPS National Salon 2025 was a resounding success. I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the YPS Executive Committee, the Salon Committee and our esteemed Chairperson for their unwavering commitment and dedication. This event would not have been possible without their motivating efforts.

Adit Agarwala (Born 1950), an Alumni of Photographic Association of Dumdum, Kolkata (PAD) served as Honorary Lecture of Photography at PAD from 1983 - 1998. Ms. Sharmali Das began her journey in photography in 2004 by enrolling in a course at CHHAYAPATH, CALCUTTA, a premier institution in Kolkata. After completing her Diploma in Photography in 2007, she became a member of Chhayapath, Calcutta in 2008. In 2011-12, 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17, she took on the role of Treasurer for Chhayapath, Calcutta. For three consecutive years, from 2017-18 to 2019-20, she served as Salon Chairman of Chhayapath, Calcutta, and oversaw the 19th and 20th Chhayapath International Salons. In 2022, Sharmali achieved EFIAP/d3, becoming the first Indian to do so. She also earned BPSA in 2018 and GMPSA in January 2020, making her the fourth Indian and the first woman in Southeast Asia to achieve this distinction. Sharmali has traveled extensively throughout rural Bengal for her photography, which inspired her to create an organization to provide service to rural areas. She currently works as a Cost Accountant in a State-run Public Utility sector.

Basudeb Chakraborty (born in 1957) has been a passionate nature photographer since 1998. Despite serving in a highly responsible and transferable position in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department until his retirement on 31 December 2017, followed by an assignment with the ADMI Project under the Government of West Bengal, he consistently pursued photography with remarkable dedication and excellence.
Over the years, he has earned numerous prestigious national and international distinctions, including AFIP, EFIP, LIIPC, AFIAP, EFIAP, EFIAP/Platinum, Gold APU, GMPSA, GPU Crown 3, VIP 1, EFIP-Gold (Nature), and M.FIP (Nature). His outstanding achievements have also been recognized through more distinctions like M.SSP (Sri Lanka), ES.CPE (Romania), and M.NPS (Cyprus) for his impressive salon acceptances and contributions to international photography.
Although best known for his captivating nature and wildlife photography, he has developed exceptional expertise in still life, water droplet, macro, and indoor portrait photography, demonstrating remarkable versatility across multiple photographic genres.
Beyond his creative accomplishments, he has made significant contributions to the photographic community as an organizer and mentor. He played a pivotal role in the development of North Bengal Photographic Club (NBPC) as a founder member since its inception in 2007. He provided dynamic leadership during 2007–2011 and has again been serving the club with distinction from 2019 to the present. Earlier, he also played a key role in the activities of Raiganj Photographic Society from 1999 to 2003, contributing substantially to the promotion of photography in the region.
In recognition of his dedicated service to the photographic fraternity, the Federation of Indian Photography (FIP) conferred upon him the prestigious honorary distinction ESFIP (Excellence in Service of Federation of Indian Photography).
DR PRAMOD GOVIND SHANBHAG

Dr. Pramod Shanbhag, born in Honnavar on the banks of the Sharavati River in Karnataka state, developed an early interest in photography inspired by the captivating images in the Times and Life magazines available at his school library. However, financial constraints prevented him from purchasing a camera in his youth.
It wasn't until the age of 42 that Dr. Shanbhag bought his first camera, encouraged by his close friend Dr. Jaiprakash. This rekindled passion for photography led him to dedicate more time to the craft. Under the mentorship of TNA Perumal, the doyen of photography, Dr. Shanbhag began to pursue photography seriously. Most Sundays found him exploring the outskirts of Bangalore with Dr Jayaprakash and other photography friends capturing the bird and macro life around the lakes of Kanakupura, marshes of Heserghatta and the always popular Ranganthittu.
Dr. Pramod Shanbhag is a practicing Paediatrician since 1974. After the initial 10 years of learning the basics and improving his skill, due to his family and work commitments, photography took a backseat for about a decade. The photography trips resumed in full earnest in 2013.
Dr. Shanbhag has explored various genres of photography, ranging from landscape, nature and wildlife, and macro photography. Of late, his photographic interest has expanded to photographing cultural spectacles, which are often deep-rooted in local traditions.
Dr. Shanbhag’s mastery over photography is evident in the honours his creations have garnered, such as ARPS, EFIAP (D1), MPSA. He has more than 10,000 acceptances in international salons. His award tally is 1500 which includes 50 FIAP GOLD and 119 PSA GOLD MEDALS.

Santosh Kumar Jana (Born 1973) in the Midnapur district of West Bengal. He passed B.Sc. examination from the University of Calcutta and got a diploma on Photography from Bangiya Bijnan Parishad. Some of his achievements are:

- View all awarded pictures - All awarded pictures and details of authors are available under the Results Page.
- View all accepted pictures - The Results Page also contains thumbnails of accepted pictures under each section. Take your mouse over the picture ans you can see author's details. Click on any thumbnail to see pictures in that section in larger size.
- Check the statistics - The Results Page contains analysis of data from the salon by section, country, club and gender. Check top performers in this salon.
- Enjoy the accepted works of exhibitors you follow - At the bottom of the Results Page is a complete list of exhibitors. Click on the icon next to the author and you can see all his works accepted in this salon. Again you can see the pictures in larger size by clicking on the thumbnail. Click on the "Download PDF" button to get a list of all exhibitors.

Complete required actions
If you have won a medal or a ribbon in this salon, you need to complete the following actions to help us hold the exhibition, publish the catalog and then mail your awards. These actions must be completed on or before Sun, Oct 18, 2026.
- Upload Full Resolution JPEGs for Printing and for publishing Catalog - While on the My Results page, click on the Upload button next to your medal/ribbon winning images and upload a high resolution image. The preferred image size is 5400 pixels on the long side. Please contact us if you are facing any challenges.
- Verify and correct the Name, Address, Phone and Honors - Salon Medals/Ribbons/Mementos/Certificates will bear the details that are appearing on your profile page. See that your name is entered in proper case. The awards will be mailed to the address mentioned there. If changes are required, use the Edit Profile page to update the details.
- Verify and correctness of Picture Titles - This is your last chance to check and correct the titles of your pictures, especially, the accepted pictures. Data reported to the patronage bodies will contain this title. The Catalog will carry the title as it appears here. Next to each picture on My Results page there is a link to Edit Title. Click on the same, an input box will appear to enter your correct title. Change the title and click on the Update button.
