Message from Chairman
It gives me immense pleasure to be the chairman for the 7th time continuously, for an International Salon organized
by YPS. I thank you for taking part in the YPS international salons and making each one of them successful. Organizing
an international salon is our humble attempt to exhibit the beautiful images from authors around the world to the public
of the city of Bengaluru.
Friends, it is always a pleasure to see participation from photography enthusiasts from worldwide, with their wonderful images. Every year we are getting some of the best images from very renowned persons. We feel happy and enjoy their pictures and feel proud in exhibiting them to our citizens.
This year, we thought of introducing the Print section and got overwhelming response from our motherland. We anticipated many entries from outside India, but they were very less. The reason could be the PSA recognition, which we did not get this time because we sent the application for recognition with a few days of delay. Despite that, artists from 16 countries participated with their excellent images.
The judges for this International salon are all masters in their own field. Unlike many other salons, we do not mix the judges for the different sections. We have expert judges separately for Color open, Monochrome open, Travel and Nature sections. The judges discussed about each picture that came to the award stage and then decided the various awards.
I must tell you about our state of the art salon judging software that our salon secretary, Mr Murali Santhanam has developed. The jury panel members were awestruck with the convenience and easiness the software provided in scoring, segregating the images for various awards and marking the award winning images. The pictures were projected on to a big screen and not shown on Laptops for judging. Laptops were used only to give marks and check if the same picture is being shown on the screen. This ensured that each participating image is projected using a calibrated projector and all the jury panel members have the same view of the image. By the time the jury members finished their coffee, on the last day of the judging, the results were ready with the images! We also introduced this year, for the first time in the history of Indian salons, a feature - during the uploading of entries, that showed your pictures which were accepted in the previous YPS salons. This ensured that you do not enter the same images. That was a wonderful new idea and ensured that we exhibit only new images.
I feel happy to share with you that all the 7 YPS international salons for which I worked as the committee chairman have been very successful, without any complaint either from the world bodies or the entrants. It’s a very difficult task to see that everything is meticulously done and I must thank my salon committee members for joining hands with me despite their busy schedules and ensuring that the salon is successful. They all have worked hard and I am happy that we at YPS always give importance to every minute detail, whether during judging or in catalogue designing. Each member is given different tasks and they do their jobs to 100% perfection. I am very happy to have them in my team!
I must thank all print partners, co-ordinators, who responded to entrants and made prints for them and submitted. In this way, an entrant could save money on printing and postage. For the exhibition, Technova sponsored their world class Nova Jet Matte papers for printing the award winning images. The images were printed to highest exhibition standards at Prism Giclee printers free of cost. We are very grateful to both these sponsors.
I am thankful to HP Reddington for sponsoring the world class colourful catalogue. With this kind of catalogue our YPS exhibition has been taken to the next level in the international salon arena.

Dr. Shivnarayan Joshi, fondly called Shivji Joshi, is a Gold Medalist in MA Philosophy, a subject that he had been teaching at JNV University, Jodhpur. His works on life in Rajasthan had set the standards for desert photography in India. His meritorious journey in Photography is spread over more than 30 years. An Ex-President of FIP, Dr. Shivji Joshi, was recognized with Rajasthan State Lalith Kala Academy Award in 2013. In addition, he was presented with Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bikaneer Photojournalist Association in 2019.
During this 30 year journey, Dr. Shivji Joshi had won more than 250 Awards including 10 Gold Medals. He also won more than 900 acceptances in National and International Salons. Two of his pictures, including "Carrying Water", got published in National Geography Magazine. His pictures were also published in Photography Year Book, England, Popular Photography, USA, Nikon Calendar 2010 and several other international and national magazines. He has conducted more than 30 One-man Shows in USA, Singapore and several Indian cities.
Dr. Shivji Joshi has conducted several Desert Photography workshops and had been a mentor in several other workshops organized all over India. He had conducted more than 10 batches of free Basic Photography courses at the Gurukul of Photographic Art, Jodhpur. He has a rich experience of being part of the jury in over 75 National and International Salons including the ones organized by the Photo Division, Information & Broadcasting Ministry, Govt. of India, Lalith Kala Academy, Lucknow and Lalith Kala Academy, Admedabad.

His interest in wildlife and photography started during his high school days in 1976. His father, a professional photographer himself, was his first Guru. Later on when he started learning from Shri. C Rajagopal, his photography and printing skills soared to new heights. Under his guidance and encouragement, shri B Srinivas participated in many salons and won innumerable awards. He achieved his international distinctions from RPS and FIAP at a young age of 35, possibly among the youngest to achieve this honor.
He has to his credit more than 550 acceptances, 50 awards and 46 certificates in National Salons and 196 acceptances, 23 Honorable Mentions, 18 awards in International Salons. He has been a judge for FIAP distinctions continuously from 1990. He was also on the panel of jury of many National and International Salons.
He was part of the team of jury in many Salons, notably the World Cup held in Bangalore in 2014. As photography moved from films and prints to digital, he too moved to the digital world quite late in his carer. At 65, his passion for photography is still burning bright.

A.G.Lakshminarayan started his photographic journey in 1972 and learnt photography from the world famous pictorial photographer late Dr. D.V.Rao. He is a specialist in creative photography, macro and bird photography. A specialist in photoshop, he conducted many digital post processing workshops for beginners and advanced photographers.
He concentrated only in the creative sections of international salons and got 69 awards and over 600 acceptances. His works were exhibited all over the world. He had been a judge in many Salons and contributed articles to many reputed Kannada magazines.

Born in 1950, Adit Agarwala was a Banker by profession but a Photo Artist by passion. He is an alumni of Photographic Association of Dumdum (PAD). He was a honorary Lecturer of Photography at PAD for 16 years, had written Articles on Photography, conducted workshops, delivered talks on Photographic Art at various forums, is a co-author of two books ‘Learn Photography’ and ‘Experimental Photography’ published by PAD.
He has been a Jury in various National & International Salons since 1987. He was the founder President of ‘Friends of Photography’ Chandigarh and organized First Indo-Pakistan “DOSTI PHOTO SHOW” at Chandigarh in 2004. He has been a regular Salon participant with more than 1600 Acceptances to his credit from International Salons & more than 100 Awards from FIAP, PSA, FIP and others. He was the first Indian to be awarded the 1st Prize at "Photojournalist of the year" Contest in 1989 held by the PSA.
His Works have been included in KKL-Bilderbank, Austria / Germany (of top 25 photographers) published in a Booklet & State Lalit Kala Akademi, Lucknow. He was honored as one of the six Indian Pictorialists by the Photographic Society of Pakistan and invited to contribute photographs to the Exhibition “Tribute to the Legends of Photography” Exhibition held in 2005 in Pakistan.
He has been Associate Editor of ‘VIEWFINDER’ (1997-2001) the Official Monthly Journal of the FIP. He has been a Member of Working Committee of the Federation of Indian Photography (FIP) since 2017 and currently the President since 2021.

Mr. M N Jayakumar pursues a lifelong passion for protection of wildlife and conservation of natural resources. After 4 decades in Indian Forest Service, Mr. Jayakumar retired as the Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member Secretary, Zoo Authority of Karnataka. He has had the privilege of travelling extensively across various National Parks and Wildlife Sanctuaries in India, capturing the essence of nature through his camera. Mr. Jayakumar has won numerous awards and Certificates of Merit in National and International photography salons. His photographs have been displayed across exhibitions in India, England, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Finland, Australia, Scotland, USA and South Africa. Select images have also been published in leading newspapers, magazines and books of National and International repute. He has also authored the book Life in the Jungle: Memoirs of a Forester. He had been on the jury of many salons.

Hong Kong
Mr. Ping Chan is an industrialist and loves photography. He participated in lots of photography related activities and took various offices for the executive committees of PSHK and PSEA for years. He has organized memorable and meaningful exhibitions and events for photography lovers in Hong Kong and compiled the historical works and their achievements in well-illustrated photo albums which he donated to the Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong Heritage Museum and PSA as permanent collections. He has delivered talks to share his passion for photography. He has participated in international salons worldwide and received innumerable medals, honorable mentions and certificates of merit.
HW Ping Chan earned his PPSA in 2011, his EPSA in 2013, his MPSA in 2014, his GMPSA in 2015, and his GMPSA/B in 2018. He was awarded his FPSA honors in 2014.

Mr. Mohammed Arfan Asif

Mr. Mohammed Arfan Asif is a Life Member and Honorary Member of YPS. He started his photographic journey under the guidance of legendary photographer Mr. Chakravarthy Rajagopal. He is a great mentor and loves sharing his knowledge. He installed Askary Photo Awards in 1997 to encourage young photographic talent and recognize.
Mohammed Arfan Asif, resident in Dubai since 1994, has been involved in serious photography for the past three decades. His primary forte is pictorial photography with portraits and landscapes as his main subject, though he also dabbles in nature and travel photography.
Arfan was awarded the AFIAP and ARPS in 1994, AICS in 2000, FICS and PPSA in 2012, EFIAP in 2013, EFIAP/b and EPSA in 2015. He has exhibited his photographs in International photography exhibitions spread over 39 countries and won many awards along with 1300 acceptances.
Arfan mentors a small group of 50+ passionate photographers through the "Shutter Bugs Creative Forum‚" in Dubai, UAE, which he established in 2009. He has given presentations and workshops on various aspects of photography in his hometown Bengaluru in India and his country of residence, the United Arab Emirates; apart from Italy and Spain. Arfan has written articles on pictorialism, portraiture, etc. in various local and international publications. He has judged photo contests and is the Country Representative of ICS. Arfan has done his Masters degree in Pharmacy with pharmacology and is currently employed as Head of Unit in the Pharmacy Department of Dubai Health Authority in the United Arab Emirates.
Arfan aspires to reach out to a wider audience with his images and share his knowledge to photography enthusiasts.
