YPS National Salon 2024

Message from Chairman

it is indeed a great feeling of successfully completing the YPS International salon 2019. I must thank all the Participants for having taken your precious time to participate and submit your excellent work. We at the YPS Executive Committee and Salon committee have put in our best efforts for the success of the salon.

I must congratulate all the successful Award winners, for submitting your best work, and it was a feast for the eyes. This year we could see a lot of new pictures and creative ideas. It is a record for YPS, that we received 4765 pictures from 375 participants spread across 35 countries.

Year after year YPS is making great strides by attracting larger number of participants from across the world. It is our commitment that we will maintain a high standards, be it the salon software or the transparent judging process. In this context, I must tell you that the judges had spent quality time over all the pictures submitted and discussed on every award-winning image before finalizing the awards. YPS believes in “awarding the picture” rather than the author so that every deserving picture wins an award. I personally thank all the eminent juries for their valuable judgment and look forward to having them again in our future salons. For the first time in the Indian salon’s history, the entire judging for 3 days, was telecast on live stream.

As the YPS President and Salon Chairman, I gained a lot of knowledge, in running the society and make it one of the most prestigious photographic societies. It gives me utmost satisfaction, When I see many photo artists rating YPS salons "as one of the best in the world".

I will be failing in my duty, if I don’t mention the very pride of our club – winning 50 best club awards- in All India and International salons- within a span of 15 months. It is indeed, a record among the Indian clubs and I must give 100% credit to our club members, who participated in many national and International salons and brought laurels to our society. I feel proud as a President, that in my tenure, we could create a history of this magnitude. I thank and wish all my fellow photographers, all the very best in their career, and achievements.

On this note, dear friends, I congratulate all the award winners again, and look forward to seeing many amazing images, in the years to come.

I wish to thank the Federation of International Art Photography; Photographic Society of America, Global photographic union, Federation of Indian Photography, and Master of light, for their prestigious Recognition and awards.

SALON RESULTS

SALON RESULTS - CONGRATULATIONS

Salon Results are now ready, ahead of time, as on December 1st. Individual results were mailed to each participant with scores for each picture along with links to upload printable files for exhibition printing. In addition, scores are also available on My Page.

International Flavor

This International Salon brought true international flavor to the Salon in many ways. We received submissions from 131 authors from 50 international countries bringing in a variety of subjects and approaches. With 8 out of 12 juries coming from other countries, we experienced, for the first time, the divergent perspectives on photography from across the globe.

In summary, YPS International Salon 2020 is nothing like any of the Salons YPS handled in the past.

Internationalisation of Judging

YPS has successfully handled dealing with 5 different timezones and holiday schedules and completed the judging in just 2 days. We also had to make improvements to our judging software to make it user friendly so that the jury can work without our constant support.

Actions from Participants

We have included a Generated Social Share Picture under My Results which you may use is sharing your achievements on Facebook, Instagram and other social channels.

Verify and Correct Name and Address no later than Sat, Dec 12, 2020

Please log in and validate correctness and edit the details if any corrections are required. Salon Certificates, Medals, Pins & Ribbons and acceptance reports will bear the name and titles on the Salon Website.

WHAT WE HEARD

ACCOLADES

Youth Photographic Society is happy to share with you the accolades, appreciations and messages from the Salon jury members, participants and others who shared their views with YPS.

From Members of Jury

It has been a honor to work with you and with pleasure. I enjoyed very much, because its a club who does a lot for the young people specially. Always with good ideas and technique ideas and find a solution and prepare things and contests even in these times is so difficult for so many people. So, be proud. It is pleasure for me to work with you together and show images to all people and we have big images, great images and that is what we love doing and do it together and in future we will do it very often times more. Be blessed, stay happy, stay healthy. Go on doing your great achievements. I am with you all the time.

Barbara Schmidt, MPSA2, EFIAP/B, GPU CR-4 VIP-3 Zeus, cMoL, RISF-10, AISF, HIUP, GAPU, FAPU, +16

The software was very easy to use and I enjoyed the opportunity to judge.

Elena McTighe, MPSA, HonPSA, ESFIAP, President of PSA

I felt your exhibition was a well run contest. Software was easy to use with several nice features that made the job easier. While the award round takes time, I felt it gave each judge the opportunity to evaluate fairly the images and discuss the merits of each image, unlike some other exhibitions. Well Done.

Larry Cowles, GMPSA/p, EFIAP/d1, HonPSA

I was very very impressed with the professional way things were handled and the technological solutions that YPS has been presenting has been phenomenal. Also they have the ability to put together a fantastic team of judges which really was a pleasure to work with. I have to say, this one comes highly recommended.

Leif Alveen, MPSA2, EFIAP/p, NSMiF/s, FAPU, ESDF

...let me convey that the judging sessions already completed were very well organized and conducted to the comfort of the jury as well as for the greater learning of the participants and non-participants. Very impressed by the quality IT technology used to ensure that the process is smooth and has met the objectives of the salon most convincingly. I am sure all those who watched the sessions found it interesting within the confines of their homes. Indeed during Covid19 times new opportunities have been explored and I should state that though this system was tested even in the past it had greater meaning this time.
As a traditionalist and from what I have learnt from my peers, I do prefer physical presence of jury along with an interested bunch of local enthusiast. But we all need to adapt with the times and I believe YPS is a trendsetter and a benchmark for others to emulate.
I am impressed with your collective team work and that includes many others not listed here. You are blessed to have a great leader as well as an excellent IT maverick.

Mohammed Arfan Asif, EFIAP/p, MPSA, ARPS, APSA, MICS, FICS, MIUP, c*MoL, Hon.YPS

"Excellent" is the one word to express my judging experience at YPS International Salon, 2020. The marking system, the counter showing distribution of marks alloted and the discussion process to finalize the awards is very impressive and unique. Overall, I judged the 1309 entries in Photo Travel Division effortlessly and I felt judging more than 5000 entries in one day will not matter in the YPS system. Finally, the transparency in the judging system is a moral booster to the participants.

Subrata Bysack, GMPSA/p, EFIAP, GPU - CR5, FFIP

Our photography art, and outdoor aspects of it have taken a backseat during these pandemic times. I deeply appreciate YPS's efforts in bringing back the thrill of international competition and live judging, back into our lives with technology at its heart, aptly so from Bengaluru. Participants from around the globe, being able to witness live critique of their art, by a diverse set of experienced and internationally acclaimed jury members, is a trendsetting and commendable feat.
Being a part of this Salon, has been a personally enriching experience for me. Heartiest congratulations to you all for a very well organized and successful salon; and best wishes for all future YPS's endeavors in promotion of our photography art.

Vinay Parelkar, ARPS, AFIAP, FFIP

YPS is grateful to all those who appreciated the efforts
