QUICK GUIDE to YPS National Salon 2026

If you had participated in the YPS Salon in the past, your profile must already be available. You can login using your email and your last registered password. If you do not know the password, you can enter your email ID and click on Reset Password button.

Members of Youth Photographic Society should login using email registered with YPS or using the YPS Member ID along with YPS Member password entered on YPS Website. If you do not remember the YPS Member password, you can visit YPS Website, reset member password using the Forgot Password? link, and then login here using the password sent to you through email.

The following restrictions are enforced on uploaded pictures.

The Maximum Width or Breadth or Horizontal Side or X Axis is 1920 pixels
The Maximum Height or Vertical Side or Y Axis is 1080 pixels
The Maximum File Size is 4 MB
There are no specific DPI requirements.

Youth Photographic Society (YPS) is happy to welcome you to participate in YPS National Salon 2026. YPS started functioning in 1971. Growing from strength to strength, YPS blossomed into one of the largest clubs in India. Over the years, YPS has firmly established itself in the world of Salons as one of the most professionally run Salons. We aim to provide you a rich participating experience. YPS, continuing its journey to promote photography, has bundled several exciting features into this salon:

SALON SECTIONS

Please read the description of each section to understand the award categories under each section while uploading images to maximize your win chances. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions for restrictions on the content and post-processing for each section.

COLOR	DIGITAL	4	Sep 20, 2026	View Rules Rules for COLOR COLOR SECTION This is a COLOR SECTION that accepts pictures in full or partial colour covering any subject other than Monochrome. The pictures may be of any genre such as Portraits, Pictorial or Landscape. All elements of the image must have been shot by the author. All parts of the image including graphics have to be photographed by the author holding copyright of his submitted works. Use of some filters available on net is permissible. Submission of same images either colour or mono in two different section of the same Salon will result in disqualification for both the images. Monochrome Grayscale images (that is without tone) may not be entered in the COLOR section. IMPORTANT NOTE: In accordance with Para II.8 E of FIAP Document 048/2025 E “Pictures created by artificial intelligence are not allowed in this salon! All parts of the image have to be photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of all works submitted. Offenders will be sanctioned for life! ”
MONOCHROME	DIGITAL	4	Sep 20, 2026	View Rules Rules for MONOCHROME MONOCHROME SECTION This is a MONOCHROME section that accepts Grayscale and Toned Grayscale images fitting the following definitions. An image is considered to be Monochrome only if it gives the impression of having no color (i.e. contains only shades of grey which can include pure black and pure white) OR it gives the impression of being a greyscale image that has been toned in one color across the entire image. (For example by Sepia, red, gold, etc.) A greyscale or multi-colored image modified or giving the impression of having been modified by partial toning, multi-toning or by the inclusion of spot coloring does not meet the definition of monochrome and shall be classified as a Color Work. All elements of the image must have been shot by the author. All parts of the image including graphics have to be photographed by the author holding copyright of his submitted works. Use of some filters available on net is permissible. Monochrome Grayscale images (that is without tone) may not be entered in Color Open sections. Grayscale images may be entered in Nature and Travel sections, but toned images are not permitted under Nature and Travel sections. Submission of same images either colour or mono in two different section of the same Salon will result in disqualification for both the images. NATURE	DIGITAL	4	Sep 20, 2026	View Rules Rules for NATURE NATURE SECTION Nature photography is restricted to the use of the photographic process to depict all branches of natural history, except anthropology and archeology, in such a fashion that a well-informed person will be able to identify the subject and certify its honest presentation. The story telling value of a photograph must be weighed more than the pictorial quality while maintaining high technical quality. Human elements shall not be present, except where those human elements are integral parts of the nature story such as nature subjects, like barn owls or storks, adapted to an environment modified by humans, or where those human elements are in situations depicting natural forces, like hurricanes or tidal waves. Scientific bands, scientific tags or radio collars on wild animals are permissible. Photographs of human created hybrid plants, cultivated plants, feral animals, domestic animals, or mounted specimens are ineligible. No techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove pictorial elements except by cropping are permitted. Conversion to infrared, either by digital technique or by original technique is not allowed. It is perfectly legal to remove dust, flares or digital noise. Minor global colour/tone correction is OK as long as it is not selective and the final image looks natural but not dramatic. Dodge and Burn tool is for you only but use it judiciously. Selective darkening of background is prohibited. Techniques like panning, slow shutter speed or in-exposure zooming are part of your creativity. Use of filters like Polarizers and ND filters are ok. Stitched images are not permitted. Drone Photography in the National Parks of India is illegal except with prior written permission from the concerned authorities. Drone images of Wild animals will be disqualified. Color images can be converted to greyscale monochrome. But partial/complete toning is not allowed. Infrared images, either direct-captures or derivations, are not allowed. Welfare of the subject is extremely important. Use of live bait is totally prohibited. Relocated nest is a big NO NO and jury members should not award nest images. Images entered in Nature sections meeting the Nature Photography Definition above can have landscapes, geologic formations, weather phenomena, and extant organisms as the primary subject matter. This includes images taken with subjects in controlled conditions, such as zoos, game farms,botanical gardens, aquariums and any enclosure where the subjects are totally dependent on man for food. IMPORTANT NOTE: In accordance with Para II.8 E of FIAP Document 048/2025 E “Pictures created by artificial intelligence are not allowed in this salon! All parts of the image have to be photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of all works submitted. Offenders will be sanctioned for life! ”
WORLD IN FOCUS	DIGITAL	4	Sep 20, 2026	View Rules Rules for WORLD IN FOCUS WORLD IN FOCUS SECTION The “World in Focus” section encompasses the full range of photographic genres, including architecture, culture, events, food, landscape, portraits, etc. Such images express the spirit of an era, the essence of a place or of a culture, whether it is shown in an authentic scene or whether it is arranged. Digital manipulation to optimize an image in terms of fine-tuning of levels and colours is allowed as long as the image looks natural. The same applies for removal of dust or digital noise. Techniques that add, relocate, replace, or remove any element of the original image, except by cropping, are not permitted. HUMAN EMOTIONS	DIGITAL	4	Sep 20, 2026	View Rules Rules for HUMAN EMOTIONS HUMAN EMOTIONS Human Emotions section invites photographers to capture genuine human emotions, interactions and moments that reveal the human experience. Images may portray joy, sorrow, love, empathy, anticipation, solitude, celebration, struggle or other emotions through people, expressions, gestures and relationships. All elements of the image must have been shot by the author. All parts of the image including graphics have to be photographed by the author holding copyright of his submitted works. Use of some filters available on net is permissible. Both Color and Monochrome images are accepted in this section. IMPORTANT NOTE: In accordance with Para II.8 E of FIAP Document 048/2025 E “Pictures created by artificial intelligence are not allowed in this salon! All parts of the image have to be photographed by the author who is holding the copyright of all works submitted. Offenders will be sanctioned for life! ”

This Salon offers a simple and low rate structure for easy participation. You can also upgrade your participation option any time till the last date and increase your chances of winning.

DISCOUNT STRUCTURE

YPS encourages club participation and offers discounts depending on the number of participants. The following discount will be awarded uniformly for all active FIP Member Clubs approaching us for discounts:

Minimum Number of Participants	Discount Percentage	Minimum Sections
Minumum 5 participants	20 Percent	Each participant will be required to participate in ALL the sections.
Minumum 30 participants	20 Percent	Each participant will be required to participate in minimum two sections.

To request discount, follow these simple steps:

The Club coordinator registers himself/herself for the Salon.
Use Request Club Discount option in the user side menu to request discount. The co-ordinator will be required to specify the promised minimum number of participants and mode of payment (Club Payment or Individual Payment) while making the request.
An email will be generated to the Salon Committee. A member of Salon Committee will get in touch with the co-coordinator, if required, and then set up discount.
The co-ordinator will then be able add emails of participating members from your club. An email with discount coupon will be sent to all the participants added.
The participant should use the same email to login or sign up. When they enter the contest and select sections for participation, the discount will be applied automatically.

If the co-ordinator had opted for Club Payment, the co-ordinator can use the Club Payment option to select participation levels for each participant and make a single payment. When a club payment is made, the participant's number of sections will be automatically set to the participation level already configured and no payment will be requested.

Members of YPS will be automatically eligible for 20% discount. They can participate in 2 sections or in all sections.

Announcement of Results	Mon, Oct 5, 2026	The results will be posted on the salon website. Each entrant would also receive an email intimation of the same.
